Meet Amy
Amy Brooks, JD
Founder and Principal Educational Consultant
Amy is the Founder of Brooks College Consulting. Having shepherded
her own children through the admissions process, Amy gets how
stressful the college admissions process is for most students and
families. Amy’s goal is to help turn down the dial on that stress by
providing guidance that allows students and families to feel confident,
organized and prepared.
Amy understands the needs and experiences of military families and veterans, and how these military experiences often impact the application process and college decision for military-connected students and families. With first-hand experience, Amy can also guide military-connected clients through VA financial benefits like the GI Bill and Yellow Ribbon as well as scholarship and grant opportunities available for military clients.
Amy earned her Juris Doctorate and Master’s in Public Administration at Cleveland State University and her B.A. from Smith College by way of Tulane University and Kent State University. With this academic background, Amy brings unique experience and insight to the college admissions process, understanding the importance of finding the student’s right fit, understanding the transfer process, and being able to help students organize in a strategic way. A dedicated independent educational consultant, Amy is a member of the Independent Education Consultants Association (IECA). Committed to providing the highest level of service for her clients, Amy adheres to the IECA’s Principles of Good Practice and ethical standards. Amy is a “student of colleges” and is always learning and updating her knowledge base about schools and admissions changes and trends. Ongoing professional development includes visiting college campuses and attending professional industry conferences and seminars. Amy just attended the IECA’s 2025 Summer Training Institute.
